The solenoid valves are considered as “Pressure accessories” as defined in Article 2, paragraph 5, of the PED Directive 2014/68 / EU and are subject of Article 4, paragraph 1, letter (c), of this Directive. The entire range is designed for use with fluids classified by Article 13, paragraph 1, letter (b), of the PED 2014/68 / EU as belonging to Group 2, or non-toxic fluids, non-flammable and non-explosive; this macro Group also includes the refrigerant fluids belonging to Group A1 classification in accordance with standard EN 378-1 and listed in Appendix E of mentioned standard. Examples of refrigerant fluids are:
– HFC R134a, R404A, R407C, R410A, R507;
– Blends HFC/HFO R448A, R449A, R450A, R452A, R513A.
The whole range of products includes normally closed valves, that is when energizing the solenoid the valve opens. There are two types of valves, direct-acting and diaphragm pilot operated; in the first type opening and the closing of the orifice, the passage is obtained directly by the plunger. In diaphragm pilot operated, the plunger is only directed to open the pilot hole of the membrane, which closes the orifice and needs a minimum differential pressure, between the inlet and the outlet of the valve, in order to lift up the membrane and allow the passage of the fluid.
WARNING! The solenoid valves BASIC series cannot be used with R22, mineral oils, alkylbenzene oils.
The body and the flange are made of hot forged brass EN 12420 – CW617N and sealing between two components is ensured by a special gasket made of HNBR. The plunger tube is made of austenitic stainless steel AISI 305 – 1.4303 and keeps the plunger system made of stainless steel AISI 430F ferritic – 1.4105; the material of springs of reaction the plunger are austenitic stainless steel AISI 301. The seal rings of EPDM, placed under and above the coil, ensure perfect insulation from oxidizing agents. Solder connections in ODS models are made by copper tube EN 12735-1 – Cu-DHP.
The valves are supplied without coils. The connection of the valve to the system shall be done with an alloy with a low melting point. Before welding the body to the plant, disassemble the valve, taking all detachable parts, the gasket should remain on the removed cover otherwise separate it manually. Make sure, for the installation of the valve, the direction of the arrow indicated on the body, be the same as the direction of the flow in the plant and that the coil is preferably facing upwards, also, during the soldering avoid the flame direction towards the body. Before connecting electrically the solenoid valve make sure that the voltage and frequency of the system network correspond to the values printed on the solenoid.
