Normally closed solenoid valves EV PLUS series

The solenoid valves are classified as “Pressure accessories” in the sense of PED Directive 2014/68/EU, Article 2, paragraph 5 and are subject to Article4, paragraph 1, letter (c), of the same Directive.

All the product range is suitable for use with fluids proper to Group 1 and 2, as defined in Article 13, paragraph 1, letter (a) and letter (b), of PED Directive 2014/68/EU with reference to the Regulation (EC) n. 1272/2008, in accordance with safety classification A1, A2L in Annex E of the standard EN 378-1: 2016. Examples of refrigerant fluids are:

– HFC R32, R134a, R404A, R407C, R410A,R507;

– HFO R1234yf, R1234ze and blends HFC/HFO R448A, R449A, R450A, R452A, R452B, R445A, R454B, R454C, R513A.

The series is also compatible with HC hydrocarbon fluids classified A3 by the mentioned Annex E, such as R290, R600, R600a, but they must be used exclusively on refrigeration systems located in areas NOT classified as the risk of explosion, as defined in Annex I of Directive 1999/92/EC. These series are normally closed valves, that is when the solenoid is energised the valve opens. There are two types of valves: direct-acting and diaphragm pilot operated; in the first type opening and the closing of the orifice passage is obtained directly by the plunger. In diaphragm pilot operated, the plunger is only directed to open the pilot hole of the membrane, which closes the orifice and needs a minimum differential pressure, between the inlet and the outlet of the valve, in order to lift up the membrane and allow the passage of the fluid.

WARNING! The solenoid valves PLUS series cannot be used with R22, mineral oils, alkylbenzene oils.

Costruction

The body and the flange are made of hot forged brass EN 12420 – CW617N and sealing between two components is ensured by a special gasket made of HNBR. The plunger tube is made of austenitic stainless steel AISI 305 – 1.4303 and keeps the plunger system made of stainless steel AISI 430F ferritic – 1.4105; the seal of the seat in the plunger is in PTFE. The material of springs of reaction plungers are austenitic stainless steel AISI 301. The seal rings of EPDM, placed under and above the coil, ensure perfect insulation from oxidizing agents. Solder connections in ODS models are made by copper tube EN 12735-1-Cu-DHP.- Cu-DHP.

Installation

The valves are supplied without coils. The connection of the valve to the system shall be done with an alloy with a low melting point. The valves can be mounted in any position as long as the coil is not facing downwards. Before welding the body to the plant, disassemble the valve, taking all detachable parts, the gasket should remain on the removed cover otherwise separate it manually. Make sure, for the installation of the valve, the direction of the arrow indicated on the body, be the same as the direction of the flow in the plant and that the coil is preferably facing upwards, also, during the soldering avoid the flame direction towards the body. Before connecting electrically the solenoid valve make sure that the voltage and frequency of the system network correspond to the values printed on the solenoid.
