Y-CHECK VALVES PLUS Series

The Y check valves are considered “Pressure Accessories” as defined in Article 2, paragraph 5, of Directive PED 2014/68/EU. The entire line has been designed for use with almost all of the refrigerants present on the market, i.e. fluids classified in Article 13, paragraph 1, letter (a) e (b), of Directive PED 2014/68/EU as part of Group 1 and Group 2; most of these fluids are indicated in Annex E of standard EN 378-1 as Class A1, A2L and A3.

HFC: R32, R404A, R407C, R410A, R507;
HFO: R1234ze, R1234yf;
Blends HFC/HFO: R448A, R449A, R450A, R452A, R452B,
R454B, R454C, R513A;
HC: R290, R600, R600a, R1270;

For use with fluids other than indicated, contact GMC Refrigerazione.

In the case of the Y check valves, the internal Nominal Dimensions (DN), foreseen now, vary from diameters of 16 mm for the smallest, up to diameters of 31 mm for the largest versions, while the maximum operating pressure, indicated in the reference tables, do not exceed 50 bars for all models. Refer to the tables for the hazard class of the specific model.

Costruction

Y-Check Valves (CVY) are characterized by a mobile obturator that guarantees the unidirectional passage of the flow and have the peculiar characteristic of being able to be installed, with the longitudinal axis placed both horizontally and vertically, provided that the cap is always facing upwards; see the section “Installation” for further details.

The cap is made of forged brass UNI EN12420 – CW617N, as well as the body, in which the connection pockets are obtained to which, in the CVY2 series, can be brazed directly, depending on the model, both metric tubes and in inches. In the CVY4 series, brazing connections are made with EN 12735-1 – Cu-DHP R290 copper tubes, with pockets for connecting both metric and inch tubes.

The obturator seal is made of modified PTFE and combines robustness with excellent resistance to high temperatures.

The valves are normally equipped with an internal spring in austenitic stainless steel AISI 302, such as to ensure a mOPD (minimum differential opening pressure) as low as possible, maximizing the reactivity and the opening stroke of the obturator; however, adding “HD” to the code (CVY..HD PLUS) you can request the valve with a special spring, stiffer, can offer mOPD up to 0.3 bar.

The seal between body and cap, in the CVY2 series is entrusted to a HNBR seal, while in the CVY4 series, body and cap are sealed by tig welding.

Installation

The check valves of this series can be installed, with the longitudinal axis arranged both horizontally and vertically, provided that the cap is always pointing upwards: in this way the balance equation of the forces acting on the obturator and consequently the expected mOPD are best satisfied – therefore, carefully observe the installation instructions on the instruction sheet attached to the product or downloadable from the site. It is also necessary to provide, in the installation of the CVY2, that there is enough space to unscrew and completely remove the plug and obturator before welding to the plant. Where there is vibration, appropriate damping and fixing systems should be provided to avoid overloading welds/brazes and connections.
